Dealing with Morning Sickness

Some women go unaffected by morning sickness when pregnant, whilst others have it throughout the entire thing. No pregnancy is the same, but all women can guarantee you it is not the most favoured pregnancy symptom.


Below is a list of things our readers found useful when they were dealing with morning sickness.

  • Lemonade ice blocks
  • Ice Cubes
  • Drink plenty of fluids in small doses (some people find drinking between meals to be more helpful).
  • Avoid having an empty stomach
  • unbuttered toast
  • avoid fatty foods
  • eat something small before you get out of bed in the morning
  • try taking vitamin B6
  • acupuncture wristbands for travel sickness
  • resting whenever possible
  • eating fresh, cold foods as soon as you feel sick
  • green tea
  • ginger beer
  • dry biscuits (Salada/Jatz)sta
  • fruit - green apples, watermelon, mandarins
  • diluted apple juice
  • hydralyte (or frozen Gaterade)
  • peppermint
  • lemon in water
  • vegemite on toast
  • frozen drinks - slurpies!
  • Chips (salty flavoured)
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • mango smoothies
  • acupuncture

All these items are to be considered with 'a grain of salt', however if you try to eat small amount of food frequently and try to eat atleast every 2 hours - you may see some improvements. Alternatively, speak to your doctor about tablets/vitamins that may be suitable alternatives.
